Learning in Public
Learning in public by default assumes that things posted are WIP (Work in Progress). Things may change, and become more refined as those thoughts get worked on over time.
This is allowing others to see behind the scenes on your thoughts of things, which feels pretty humbling/frightening to me, knowing that my non-polished thoughts may be up for judgement!
Why Learn in Public?
We Are In Process Beings
This is an excellent way to remind people that we do not all have complete thoughts on certain topics. Often we read online, someone's opinion piece, or a post somewhere that they have put hours of thought into, and we just take it at face value, thinking "Wow, that person really just has it all figured out!".
Turns out, that is not the reality for most of us.
Reduce Barriers of Creation
Many of us also struggle with publishing content, preferring to work on it until it is "finished," a near unattainable goal for many people. To be free to post thoughts and work that is WIP allows things to be made, even if they are a bit rough around the edges.
Learning Publicly Shows Progression
If I go and post my thoughts on some topic, and then later realise I need to revise my beliefs/opinions/statements, there is a trail of change over time that becomes visible for outsiders to see. It seems to be increasingly important in today's society to be able to demonstrate that change/growth over time is important, valuable, and perfectly normal.
